WEIRTON – Area residents looking for fresh, made-to-order Mexican-style food won’t have much longer to wait.
According to a company spokesperson, Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its new Weirton restaurant on Wednesday.
“We are always looking for communities where we can serve responsibly sourced, classically-cooked, real food and establish new local partnerships, and the Weirton area is a great fit,” explained the Chipotle spokesperson. “We’re pleased with the response to our existing locations in the larger Pittsburgh area, and hope the community enjoys our new Weirton restaurant.”
Located at 261 St. Thomas Drive, the restaurant will be open every day from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering a variety of burritos, tacos, bowls, salads and more.
Local developer Jesse Krieg announced the restaurant would be coming to Weirton in August, completing a building which also includes the Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar which opened in November.
“I wanted to get another anchor tenant, but I didn’t know who it was going to be,” Krieg said in August, discussing the months-long process of bringing Chipotle to Weirton.
Headquartered in Newport Beach, Calif., Chipotle is known for preparing its food fresh each day, with no preservatives or freezers, with customers’ orders made as they are placed.
In addition to in-store dining and pickup, the Weirton location will feature the “Chipotlane,” a drive-through pickup lane allowing customers to pick up digital orders without leaving their vehicles.
Chipotle locations average 25 jobs per location, according to the spokesperson, and Weirton’s restaurant is currently hiring.
With locations across the United States, as well as Canada and parts of Europe, Chipotle offers opportunities to give back in each of its communities.
“Chipotle is proud to offer our communities the opportunity to host a fundraiser with 33 percent of sales given back to the established cause,” noted the spokesperson. “We offer an in-restaurant and/or digital option to accommodate those who prefer off-premise dining.”
Organizations wishing to set up a fundraiser may reach out to Chipotle through the philanthropy section of the company’s website at community.chipotle.com/.
