JRB closes temporarily for repairs
CHARLESTON -- The Jennings Randolph Bridge, which carries U.S. Route 30 across the Ohio River between Chester and East Liverpool, has been closed temporarily for repairs, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
A safety inspection of the structure discovered an issue which requires repair, according to the WVDOT. No other details on the issue were announced.
Traffic traveling in Ohio will detour onto state Route 7 south, to U.S. Route 22 east in Steubenville, where the nearest bridge crossing the Ohio River — the Veterans Memorial Bridge — is located. Local traffic traveling in West Virginia can take state Route 2 south from Chester to Weirton.
The bridge was built in 1977.
