Man charged with attempted theft

WELLSBURG -- A Glen Easton, W.Va., man has been charged with destruction of property, entering without breaking and attempted grand larceny for allegedly breaking into an automated teller machine at a local business.

Wellsburg Police Chief Mike Allman said Koleton B. Caruso, 23, was arrested on the charges after he was recorded committing the crime on Wednesday by a surveillance camera at the business.

He said while Caruso tampered with the machine, he was unable to retrieve cash from inside it.

Allman said Caruso's photo was circulated among area law enforcement agencies and his department learned he could be staying at a Warwood residence.

He said Wheeling Police apprehended him there without incident.

Caruso's case is pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
