Cleanup efforts ongoing in New Cumberland
NEW CUMBERLAND – Cleanup efforts are underway in Hancock County following Thursday’s flooding.
In New Cumberland, those wishing to volunteer to assist with flood cleanup are asked to be at the New Cumberland City Building before 4 p.m. today to fill out the appropriate forms and receive a wristband to denote them as a volunteer.
Dumpsters will be located behind the New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department, and will be available for use of those affected by the flooding from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through the weekend. Cleaning supplies also will be available at the fire department, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Residents needing assistance to have their basements pumped are asked to call (304) 564-3383, extension 200, to be placed on the list. The city and fire department are working to obtain additional personnel to assist.
In addition Tetanus shots will be available at the Hancock County Health Department from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today and Monday through Friday.
