STEUBENVILLE -- With Eastern Gateway Community College just about three weeks away from closing its doors, Youngstown State University said it's "working to fill the gap" by offering a new associate degree tuition rate of $265 per credit hour for the fall semester.
The new rate includes access to a full range of student services that school officials said reaffirms their "commitment to providing accessible and high-quality educational opportunities across the region."
"Youngstown State University has a proud legacy of providing a world-class education to students from across the globe," YSU President Bill Johnson said. "Our choice of education alternatives is growing, and with this new tuition rate, we are ensuring affordability without compromising on excellence."
The reduced tuition rate applies to YSU's existing associate degree programs, as well as the 50 new associate and certificate degree programs recently added to meet the educational needs of the region in the wake of EGCC's closing. Many of the programs serve as pathways to bachelor degrees and higher, supporting students in continuing their educational journey seamlessly, they said.
A number of programs are already available, online and in-person, with additional programs slated for implementation in the near future.
"We provide the full continuum of higher education alternatives, from credentials and certifications for early entry into the workforce, to associates, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees," Johnson emphasized. "Through these programs, our amazing faculty and staff turn out exceptional graduates who go on to make positive contributions to our region, state, and nation."
Online associate and certificate learning opportunities include teacher education, accounting, business management, criminal justice (including police academy option), health services, health care administration, paralegal studies, social work, information technology, web and digital design, professional office studies, individualized studies, accounting and bookkeeping, business management, data science, labor studies, advertising, digital and social media marketing, marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, general management, human resource management, operations management, project management fundamentals and patient health navigator.
