Five arrested as part of drug investigation in Weirton
WEIRTON – Five people are in custody at the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail following arrests made by the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force Tuesday in relation to an investigation into the distribution of fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine in the area.
As a result of a months-long investigation, members of the Drug Task Force, along with officers of the Weirton Police Department executed a search warrant Tuesday at 234 Gardner Ave. in Weirton.
The search resulted in the discovery of “a large amount” of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and U.S. currency.
Those arrested were William Zimmerman, 45, of Steubenville, Jason Darby, 42, of Weirton, Martas Cromwell-Robinson, 30, of Baltimore, Vancy Lytle, 35, of Steubenville and Heather Smith, 40, of Steubenville. All have been charged with possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy to deliver fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine.
Four of them also have been identified as fugitives from justice in Maryland and Ohio.
