WEIRTON – Following a months-long search for nominees, a group of eight current and former Weirton residents have been selected to join the rolls of the Weirton Hall of Fame.
This year’s class includes individuals known for their involvement in local youth and service organizations, business owners, educators, coaches, doctors, and industry leaders.
“Congratulations to all the honorees,” said Mayor Dean Harris during Monday’s Weirton Council meeting, when the class was announced. “They’re all well deserved.”
Those selected for induction in the Class of 2025 are:
Philanthropy: Daniel L. McCune
Public Service: Gabrial (Gabe) Arlia
Business, Industry, and Professions: Dr. Jasbir Makar and Mark Glyptis
Education and Religion: Pamela J. Makricosta and Patti Barnabei

Established by Weirton Council in 2008, the Weirton Hall of Fame honors former and current city residents for their “outstanding accomplishments” in up to six categories: Philanthropy; Public Service; Music and Fine Arts; Business, Industry and Professions; Education and Religion; and Sports and Athletics.
This year’s class was selected from 16 nominations.
An induction ceremony will be held later in the year, during which time each honoree will receive a commemorative medallion, a personalize plaque, and their name memorialized on the Hall of Fame wall located in the Weirton Room of the Millsop Community Center.
