Bark in the Park scheduled in Weirton

WEIRTON — The Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation will be closing out its summer pool season with the return of Bark in the Park

The sixth-annual event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 3 at Starvaggi Memorial Pool, with a cost of $5 per dog.

“It’s been a very nice even the last five years,” Programs Director Chris Krishak said.

The event provides an opportunity for local dogs to take a dip in the city’s outdoor pool on the final operational day of the season.

Owners of all participating dogs must present proof of their dog’s current vaccinations, as well as administration of flea, tick, and heart worm preventatives.

All owners also must sign an assumption of risk and release of liability agreement.

“There will be a waiver they’ll have to sign,” explained Krishak.

Dogs under 6 months of age will not be permitted to enter the pool. Any child under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the pool with a dog. All dogs and humans must remain in the shallow end of the pool. Dogs must remain leashed at all times.

No one – dogs or humans – with open wounds or sores of any kind will be permitted to enter the water.

Owners are responsible for any accidents or injuries to their own dog or themselves, or to other dogs or humans caused by their dogs. Those deemed aggressive will be required to leave. .

All owners must properly clean up after their dog.
