Independent Art

As part of local observances of Disability Independence Week, the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau welcomed the community to the Summit Art Gallery Monday evening for a reception showcasing the art of a variety of local artists of varying ages, abilities and talents. The exhibit, which will be on display throughout the week, features works such as coloring pages, pencil sketches, painting, and sand art. Disability Independence Week is being observed throughout this week in Weirton, with several events, including today’s flag football matchup between area Special Olympics athletes and representatives of the Weirton Fire Department set for 6 p.m. at Edwin J. Bowman Field. — Craig Howell
