WEIRTON – The first in a series of planned shutdowns at Weirton’s water treatment plant has been completed.

According to information released by the Weirton Area Water Board, the shutdown – which took place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today – was “successfully completed,” with operations now returned to normal.

The conservation request made by the Water Board during the shutdown has been lifted, with no boil order issued.

Additional shutdowns will take place at later times as part of the ongoing upgrades to the water treatment plant.
