5K run to provide AEDs for youth sports
STEUBENVILLE — Syna and the Jefferson County Health Department will team to hold the second Craig A. Petrella Memorial 5K Pump and Run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Jim Wood Park.
The run will raise funds to provide automated external defibrillators to local youth organizations.
It’s open to individuals 15 and older who also may participate in fitness challenges involving weightlifting.
Registration for the race, which will be limited to 35 minutes, is $30.
Spectators are welcome, as there will be demonstrations of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AEDs, which are portable devices with instructions that allow non-medical people to assist victims of heart attacks.
Board of elections to meet
STEUEBVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Elections will hold its monthly board meeting at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
The meeting, which will be held in Tower building on Market Street, will include the certification of candidates and issues for the November general election.
Park to hold barbecue event
WELLSBURG — Brooke Hills Park will hold an end of summer barbecue event, with music and food supplied by Riversmoke Barbecue, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 15.
To be held rain or shine, the event is for adults 21 and older only. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple.
