Man injured in ATV accident
CROSS CREEK TOWNSHIP — A man was transported by medical helicopter to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after the utility vehicle he was driving crashed near county Road 74 Tuesday night.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reported the man was performing work with the vehicle when its brakes failed, causing it to skid off a trail, through a ravine and into a hillside, coming to rest against a fallen tree.
The man, who wasn’t identified, complained of pain in his legs, chest and head.
EOCC board to meet
WINTERSVILLE — The facility governance board of Eastern Ohio Correction Center will hold its regular meeting at 11 a.m. Friday at the facility, which is located at 470 state Route 43.
Paving set on Penco Road
WEIRTON — Penco Road will be restricted to one lane for the remainder of the week to allow for resurfacing, according to an announcement released by the West Virginia Division of Highways Wednesday afternoon.
Lane restrictions will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Friday, with traffic maintained by flaggers.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, and the schedule could be adjusted because of weather or other circumstances.
Weirton city offices closed Labor Day
WEIRTON — All city administrative offices will be closed Monday, in observance of Labor Day.
There will be no Weirton Ride bus service available.
The collection of garbage and recycling will remain on its regular schedule.
