Two local companies among those honored for product exporting

CHARLESTON — Two area firms were among 33 businesses recognized last week for their expansion into new international markets.

The annual Governor’s Export Awards ceremony was held July 31. It offered a chance to recognize companies which made their first export sale to a new country in the previous calendar year.

Almost 150 awards, featuring 81 countries, were presented.

Locally, those businesses receiving awards were Fanti USA, located in the Half Moon Industrial Park in Weirton, and IntelliSafe Analytics LLC in Chester.

“These companies represent the entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship that define West Virginia,” said Matt Herridge, West Virginia Department of Commerce secretary, during the awards presentation. “They’re not just reaching new customers, they’re strengthening our economy and showing the world what we’re capable of. Exporting is a long game, and every new market opened today paves the way for growth tomorrow.”

Fanti USA opened its Weirton facility — the first U.S.-based operation for Gruppo Fanti — in October 2023. The company fabricates metal cans for use with paints, varnishes and solvents.

IntelliSafe was recognized for its first international sale to Poland. The company produces wearable artificial intelligence devices, used to collect physiological and behavioral information, in an effort to improve workplace safety.

“Special thanks to the IntelliSafe Analytics’ Team and Hanna Kruhlova for making this possible. It is a truly special achievement, and we are so proud to accept this award,” said Dan Timco, president and founder of IntelliSafe Analytics, in a press release issued by the company Tuesday.

Other Northern Panhandle companies recognized with awards were Direct Online Marketing and TROY Group Inc., both in Ohio County; Marble King in Tyler County; and Mull Group in Marshall County.
