United Way announces new executive director

STEUBENVILLE — Marci Crawford has been hired as the new executive director of the United Way of Jefferson County.
Crawford joins the organization with a strong background in community leadership and nonprofit management. She most recently served as the director of the YMCA Wellness Center at the St. John Arena, where she was instrumental in developing programs, strengthening partnerships and promoting health and wellness throughout the region.
“I am honored to join the United Way of Jefferson County and to continue the important work of supporting the many member agencies that serve our community,” said Crawford. “Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families throughout Jefferson County.”
In her new role, Crawford will lead the organization in its mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the common good, the organization said. She added she was looking forward to engaging with community partners, donors and volunteers to build a stronger, healthier Jefferson County.
“On behalf of the United Way of Jefferson County, I’m proud to welcome Marci as our new executive director,” explained board president Ted Gorman.
“She’s already off to a strong start, visiting our partner agencies and offering her support where it’s needed most,” he added. “She is a tremendous asset, and I am confident she will do great work for Jefferson County and all those we serve.”
The United Way annually raises more than $325,000 to support area residents through the efforts of 11 nonprofit agencies. It plans to open the 2026 campaign at 8 a.m. Aug. 28, when it holds the annual Day of Action at the JeffCo Event Center. It’s a day, officials explained, that offers an opportunity for people and organizations to address a variety of challenges in the community by connecting volunteers with nonprofits to complete projects the agencies might not be able to finish on their own.
Crawford replaces Laura Rauch, who left the position earlier this summer to become the director of development for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.
