Chester woman faces attempted murder charge

NEW CUMBERLAND — A Chester woman is being held in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail in connection with an alleged shooting incident in Chester Thursday.
According to information provided by the West Virginia State Police, Roe Degenhardt Baker, 71, was arrested following the alleged incident at 1313 Arner Road, Chester.
Officials report Baker allegedly fired multiple rounds toward Chester resident Ronald Thomas, 67, although no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Hancock County Magistrate Court records indicate Baker is facing one count of felony attempted murder and five counts of wanton endangerment involving a firearm.
The attempted murder charge carries the possibility of life imprisonment, while the wanton endangerment charges have the potential of between one and five years of imprisonment and fines of between $250 and $2,500 for each count.
She is being held on a $35,000 bond.
