Questions about water meters

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville officials are asking residents contacted about water meter replacements by someone from Johnson Controls to “inform them they are in the wrong area.”

“The city of Steubenville is not replacing water meters,” they said Wednesday. “The Jefferson County Water and Sewer District is installing new meters for their customers, but this does not affect Steubenville customers.”

They said city residents “should not allow them to change out their water meter.”

Jefferson County “has been made aware of this issue,” officials said, adding anyone with questions or requiring assistance should call the filtration plant at (740) 283-6041.
