As part of Monday’s meeting of Weirton Council, Mayor Dean Harris presented a proclamation in recognition of September as Childhood Cancer and Leukemia Awareness Month to residents Noreen and Richard Saxon, both of whom have been advocating for the cause. The couple has been working with the Mayor’s Office to plan an awareness walk for this fall, with an aim to grow the effort in the community and raise funds to benefit cancer research in the region.
