Newell man facing charges following shooting incident

NEW CUMBERLAND – A Newell man is in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail following a report of a man being shot at his residence early this morning.

Mark Fuller, 58, of Harrison Street in Newell, faces charges of wanton endangerment with a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

He currently is being held in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville, with bonds set at $7,500 on the felony wanton endangerment charge and $2,500 on the misdemeanor discharge of a firearm charge, according to online court records.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, their investigation found Fuller and another man had been on the second story of the house shooting out the window at rats. While one of the individuals was attempting to get the small caliber rifle off the other, the gun discharged, striking the victim in the head.

The victim currently is in Pittsburgh receiving medical treatment.
