SVRTA board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will hold its regular board meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be held at the Robert J. Cutri Modal Center.

Celebration set at Jeffco Center

STEUBENVILLE — Youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can enjoy a winter wonderland with the Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ annual holiday fete on Thursday.

The Winter Celebration will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Jeffco Center, which is located at 256 John Scott Highway in Steubenville. The yearly yuletide affair has drawn dozens of consumers and their families for food, fun, and festivities and organizers said plenty of entertainment is expected this year. Guests can enjoy music by DJ Chris Terry as well as karaoke and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, while the venue will be decorated in a “Winter Wonderland” theme.

“We are closing the year with a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, reflection, and memory-making,” said JCBDD Community and Public Relations Specialist Cookie West.

West added that more than 100 people have participated in the past and the event was a great opportunity to make connections, while JCBDD Superintendent Michael Zinno echoed those comments.

“It’s all about fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing people get together to celebrate the holidays,” Zinno concluded.
