Information on abandoned puppies sought

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an animal cruelty case.

According to a press release, Tuesday morning deputies responded to a call regarding abandoned puppies on Smith Road. After taking three to a safe place, a resident of Middle Run Road reported finding four more puppies on the side of the road.

The puppies were taken by the caller who wanted the dog warden to come and get them all.

Anybody with information on these puppies who were dropped on the side of the road in single-digit temperatures, are asked to either message the Sheriff’s Office through Facebook or call 304-564-3311 extension 234.

Greenbrier Road to close for maintenance

WEIRTON — A portion of Greenbrier Road, from Campbell Lane to Sandy Lane, will be closed today for maintenance.

The closure is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Lanes to be restricted on Putney Ridge Road

COLLIERS — A portion of Putney Ridge Road will be restricted to one lane through Saturday for maintenance.

Lane restrictions will be scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day between Mileposts 0.5 and 2.43, with traffic maintained by flaggers. Motorists are advised to reduce their speed and expect delays. Inclement weather, or other circumstances, may change the project schedule.
