Several departments respond to fire

NEWELL — Several Hancock County fire departments responded to a structure fire along Race Track Road Tuesday morning.

Departments received a report of a fire with possible entrapment just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, with units from Newell, New Manchester, Lawrenceville, New Cumberland and Chester responding.

While the residents were able to escape, reports have noted two pets did not survive the fire.

Crews were on scene for approximately five hours to extinguish the fire.
