WELLSBURG — Wellsburg has a new city manager who is no stranger to the city, having lived there since 2021 and worked there previously for the Brooke County office of the West Virginia University Extension Service.
Erica Tamburin also served as administrator for the village of Shadyside for nearly three years and has worked as a Realtor for three years.
On Monday, Tamburin was administered the oath of office by Mayor Dan Dudley as outgoing city manager Steve Maguschak and other city officials looked on.
Maguschak, who is retiring after 10 years in the position, has agreed to remain with the city as a consultant until Jan. 23 to ease the transition in administration.
“I’m looking forward to getting to work here,” said Tamburin, who added, “I’m interested in serving the community where I’m raising my family.”
Her daughter, Ryan, and son, Kyler, accompanied her to the ceremony held at Wellsburg City Hall.
A graduate of Wheeling Catholic Central High School and Wheeling Jesuit University, Tamburin worked as a community outreach coordinator, a position that involved grant writing, for the WVU Extension Service, and often interacted with the public at produce distributions and other programs conducted by the agency at local schools and community events.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, she initiated studies in law at Wheeling University.
Of Wellsburg, she said, “There is a strong sense of community here, a strong sense of pride. The people here care deeply about the town and I look forward to working with council and others.”
