Members of the Weirton Festival of Nations planning committee met Monday with representatives of sponsors Hancock County Savings Bank, Steel Town Auto and the City of Weirton to discuss this year’s event, set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 21 at the Millsop Community Center. Presented by the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, this will be the modern festival’s 13th year. It was inspired by a celebration founded in the 1930s in recognition of the melting pot of nationalities calling Weirton home as immigrants arrived in the Ohio Valley seeking employment in the local mills and other industries. — Contributed
