Steubenville Police
Under the influence: Police say charges are pending against a motorist allegedly driving into yards and on sidewalks on Sunset Boulevard at Lovers Lane, Tuesday. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of an apartment building in the 400 block of Sinclair Avenue and were able to identify the driver, who police said “appeared intoxicated.” They said he admitted drinking alcohol “and…was attempting to pick up/transport a friend to his residence.” Police believe the vehicle knocked a mailbox over on Bryden Road.
Juvenile cited: A juvenile was cited after a four-car collision in the 200 block of Hollywood Boulevard, Tuesday. The driver said she was pulling out of a parking space and struck a northbound vehicle, which was propelled into a parked car. Police said the northbound motorist’s passenger side front tire was “bent outward” while the parked car’s window was shattered with a large dent in the doors after it was “pushed up the curb into the grass.” Police reported heavy damage to the driver’s side wheel areas of the juvenile’s car where it collided with the northbound motorist’s car and on the passenger’s side where it struck a parked car. The juvenile was cited for failure to yield as well as operating a motor vehicle on a temporary permit without a licensed driver present, police said.
Stress break: A caller reported seeing a woman who appeared to be asleep at the wheel of a vehicle on Sixth Street near Franklin Avenue, Tuesday. Police located her car parked in the grass off Franklin and report she told them she “was very stressed out and pulled over to take a break before driving home.” Police said she showed no signs of impairment and headed home.
Donut break: Someone reported seeing a driver “doing donuts” in the Grant School lot, Tuesday. Police are investigating.
Noisy: A caller reported hearing a couple “arguing loudly” in the 500 block of Cedar Avenue, Tuesday. Both parties insisted the disagreement was strictly verbal and neither wanted to leave the residence but said they would avoid further contact, police said.
Risky riding: Callers told police kids were riding scooters in the roadway on Wildon Avenue near Sunset Boulevard, Tuesday. Police saw the kids “riding down the street stopping right next to Sunset Boulevard” so they stopped them and told them “if they wish to ride their scooters… they should go to a park.” They also spoke with their mother, who said she would keep them in for the night
Charged: Employees at Walmart claim a woman “skip-scanned” merchandise and tried to leave the store without paying for all of the items, Tuesday. Police said Regina E. McGowan, 61, Kenton, OH, was charged with misdemeanor theft.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 3270 Sunset Blvd., litter and discarded items piled in the rear, more discarded items in a wooded area behind residence; 567 S. 4th St., car tires, broken furniture and junk dumped in vacant lot; 425 Clinton St., scattered household trash and litter; 634 Garrett Ave., scattered household trash in yard and on the hillside behind property.
Cited: Donna Marie Stanley, 41, 331 Cedar Ave., Steubenville, expired/unlawful plates.

Domestic dispute: A County Road 242 (Toronto) resident reported an domestic disturbance was in progress, Tuesday. Dispatchers said the woman was “screaming” and they could hear “a man yelling” before the call dropped. The woman later told deputies she was bleeding but didn’t want medical attention. She was hesitant to speak with sheriff’s deputies because she has a warrant in another county, but when they looked into it they weren’t authorized to execute it. They gave her a ride to a “safe” location.
Reported: A caller in the Empire area reported hearing “what sounded like gun shots” but deputies said they didn’t see or hear anything out of the ordinary, Tuesday.
