Several area programs and organizations received a boost Thursday through proceeds from Weirton’s annual controlled bow hunt program. The Weirton Urban Bowhunters Association presented donations to the Salvation Army, the Community Bread Basket, Hancock County Schools for its archery program, Greater Weirton Senior Center, Weirton Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 84 and Weirton Firefighters IAFF Local 948. Hancock County Schools received $1,000, while the others each received $500. Funds for the donations were derived from the fees paid by those participating in the bow hunt held last fall. — Craig Howell
