North 12th, Kings Creek boil order lifted; water pressure being restored

WEIRTON – The Weirton Area Water Board reports that as of 6 a.m., today, the boil order issued for all residents of North 12th Street and Kings Creek Road, as well as any other businesses or residents in that area who experienced low, or no water pressure has been lifted.

Customers in the affected areas may resume using water without any restrictions or requirement to boil their water.

Water pressure in the area, including the lower areas of North 12th Street, Kings Creek Road, Kings View Drive, and Cove Valley is gradually being restored. Water Board officials note issues were the result of a malfunction in a relatively new pressure regulating valve which resulted in water flowing at pressures high enough to damage the lines below it.

The repaired lines must be recharged slowly through smaller lines, resulting in customers experiencing lower water pressure than normal for the next three to five working days.

Fire protection will be handled by the Weirton Fire Department in cooperation with the local tanker task force.
