Alpha Tau installs officers

WEIRTON — The Alpha Tau Chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its April meeting at DeeJay’s in Weirton. Michelle Lewis, president-elect, called the meeting to order.
Chaplain Kathy Griffith gave a reading from “Walking in Grace” as the thought for the day. Secretary Mary Lou Martindill took roll and distributed copies of the March minutes for approval. Treasurer Velda Icard gave the financial report. Lewis reported on the current fundraiser. Committee reports were also given. Applications for the groups’ scholarship were presented by chairman Amy Hannahs. They were reviewed and the recipient will be invited to the May meeting to receive their award. Six members of the chapter will be attending the state convention at Pipestem State Park.
Officers for the 2026-2028 biennium were installed by Ginger Greene, international executive board member. The officers are: President Michelle Lewis; President-Elect Mary Lou Martindill; Immediate Past President Fran Jones; Secretary Amy Hannahs; Treasurer Velda Icard; Chaplain Kathy Griffith; and Historian Tammy Fields.
New members Amanda McKinney and Kim Swords were initiated. They were presented membership pins by Lewis.
Hostesses for the meeting were Griffith and Jones. The May meeting will include a covered dish buffet.
