Steubenville Police

Pointing fingers: A woman in the 500 block of S. 4th Street wanted a male roommate removed from the property Thursday, claiming he had damaged items in the residence. When they told her the man had established residency and would have to be evicted she showed them a bruise and remembered they’d been involved in a domestic disturbance and claimed he’d “attacked (her) in the hallway” and was “yelling profanities…(and) pushed her into the bathroom, where she fell on the floor.” The male told police he had been asleep “when (she) entered his room and bean swinging a pole around, yelling for him to leave,” claiming she hit the bedroom door as well as the bed. He said he “had no physical interaction” with the woman and didn’t know how she got the bruise. A third person in the residence said he “could hear yelling but didn’t (see) what took place,” and when they asked the woman if she had, indeed, been wielding “some type of pole,” she said she “entered the bedroom and began striking the side of the bed with the wooden end of a broomstick.” She said she didn’t hit him with it.

Charged: A JMHA manager told police she’d received a call about a man “drinking all day (who) would not let his girlfriend leave the residence,” Wednesday. She said when she left her office to follow up on that report “she heard subjects yelling” outside the apartment and claimed she saw the man “strike a (woman) in the face.” Police said the woman who was allegedly punched told them she was “delivering groceries to her daughter” when he came out of the apartment holding their son and “began to argue with her.” The victim alleges that after her daughter took the baby inside, he walked up to her and punched her, leaving when he heard police had been called so he could “talk to his probation officer.” Police said the woman didn’t have any bruising or red marks but she wanted to pursue charges. Branden W. Kennen, 27, 431 S. 5th St., Steubenville, was booked into the county jail on an assault charge.

No explanations: A caller reported hearing “an individual yelling and making animal noises” Thursday in the 700 block of Market Street. Police found him and advised no further assistance was needed.

Grounded: A man was on the ground Thursday at the top of Washington Street hill. Police said he told them he was just resting and refused assistance.
