STEUBENVILLE — An investigation is underway into an officer-involved shooting Sunday evening that left one man dead.

According to a release issued by Police Chief Ken Anderson, officers responded to a call about 5 p.m. Sunday regarding a person with a firearm in the 900 block of Brady Avenue.

When they arrived, the statement said, officers encountered the man, who ignored their commands, resulting in the shooting.

Officers performed life-saving measures, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were injured during the incident, Anderson said. Per department policy, the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, he added.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation in handling the investigation.
