WEIRTON – An arrest has been made in connection with a series of overdoses in the area, according to the Weirton Police Department.

Chief Charlie Kush announced Friday afternoon, the Weirton Police Department has investigated six overdoses, which include one death and two others remaining hospitalized, over the last week.

The overdoses involve suspected cocaine, believed to contain high amounts of Fentanyl, according to Kush.

While no details were made available, one individual has been arrested by the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force, following the execution of a search warrant.

Local law enforcement is continuing its investigation into the overdose cases.
