Brooke board OKs assignments

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Board of Education approved several personnel assignments during Monday’s meeting.
Members also approved three overnight trips for training and a trip by the Brooke High School volleyball team to Edison High School for a volleyball tournament on Wednesday.
Requests by Steve Mitchell, the district maintenance foreman, to accept bids from Republic Services in an estimated amount of $3,346.24 for trash collection; from Standard Air and Lite Corp. in an amount of $8,530 for a Carrier Weathermaker gas-electric rooftop HVAC unit with a curb adapter for Jefferson Intermediate School; and a maintenance proposal by FieldTurf for the football, baseball and softball fields at a cost of $5,300, were approved.
A bid of $41,800 from Volkwein’s Music of Pittsburgh was approved for the purchase of new music instruments, a request made by Deputy Superintendent Corey Murphy.
At the May 26 meeting, the board congratulated the Brooke Middle School students who were honored as Golden Horseshoe winners, including Alexander Dotters, Westin Morton and Ava Conley.
The board’s next regular session is scheduled for 5 p.m. June 22 at its offices, 1201 Pleasant Ave.
