Second Saturdays set to kick off its season

WEIRTON – The Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau is bringing back its monthly summer events featuring live music, local vendors, food and more.
Second Saturdays is set to return this weekend to the Weirton Event Center, with gates opening at 5 p.m. Saturday. This weekend’s event will feature performances by 7 South and Beatlemania Magic.
7 South will serve as the afternoon’s opening act, taking the stage at 5:30 p.m. A four-piece band from Wheeling, 7 South performs covers of hit songs from the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.
Beatlemania Magic will be Saturday’s main act, with a performance beginning at 7 p.m. Beatlemania Magic serves as a tribute to the Beatles, recreating the magic of Beatlemania.
The national touring group recreates many of the Beatles’ early concerts with costumes, equipment and harmonies, using Vox amps, along with Gretsch, Hofner and Rickenbacker guitars, before switching to the later eras of Sgt. Pepper, the White Album, Let It Be and Abbey Road.
Second Saturdays will also feature food trucks and a farmers’ and artisans’ market from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
There is no charge to attend any of the Second Saturdays events. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets, and reminded there are no outside food or beverages permitted inside the Event Center.
Additional Second Saturdays events have been scheduled over the next few months, including:
July 11 featuring Soulful Femme and House of Soul;
Aug. 8 with New Age Adenas and Aristotle Jones: The Appalachian Soul Man; and
Sept. 12 with The Trainjumpers and Suns of Beaches.
