NEW CUMBERLAND -- Hancock County commissioners addressed several end-of-year items during their meeting Tuesday, including a lease agreement between the Hancock County Senior Center and the Brooke County Committee on Aging.
The Brooke County Committee on Aging is a nonprofit organization that oversees the Brooke County Senior Center.
"They want to rent out the kitchen to provide meal delivery," Commission President Eron Chek said.
The nutrition program serves both Brooke and Hancock counties, offering lunches through one congregate site in Hancock County and two locations in Brooke County. It also provides home-delivered lunches to anyone age 60 and older who is unable to attend one of the established meal sites.
Commissioner Paul Cowey said he believes approximately 40 percent of those receiving meals through the Brooke County Committee on Aging are located in Hancock County.
Cowey moved for the agreement to be approved, contingent upon legal review.
"I believe, right now, that's on the prosecutor's desk," Cowey said.
Among other measures, commissioners approved an amendment to the county's purchase policy to align with state law, with the change effective July 1.
"This is adjusting for signature requirements in West Virginia code," Chek said.
