WEIRTON - A variety of food trucks from throughout the region will be converging on the Weirton Event Center Saturday.

The Weirton Food Truck Festival is set to make its return, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Event Center, located at 3322 East St., Weirton.

This year’s event is organized by the Hancock and Brooke Young Professionals, with proceeds to fund the organization’s programs and community projects.

"Anything raised goes to the Hancock and Brooke Young Professionals," the organization’s president, Nate Kurty, said.

Admission to the Food Truck Festival is free, with visitors able to try selections from several trucks, along with some other activities.

"We’ll have a 50/50 and a cornhole tournament," member Sarah Doughty said.

Cornhole tournaments are scheduled for noon and 4 p.m., with preregistration currently available. The cost is $20 per team, with cash prizes available for the top three teams in each tournament. Tournaments will be played in a double elimination format.

Kurty explained there are plans for a social period, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., for attendees to meet representatives of the Young Professionals and learn more about the group.

The Young Professionals were founded in 2022, designed as an independent, volunteer-run group focused on encouraging, enhancing and attracting the next generation of up-and-coming professionals into positions of community leadership.
