Brooke County Fair to kick off Friday

File photo READY FOR THE FAIR – The Brooke County Fair is set to return this Friday, with three days of activities to be held at Brooke Hills Park.

WELLSBURG - For the last 25 years, the Brooke County Fair has provided a full weekend of activities for area residents, and that will remain true when the fair kicks off Friday.

Set to take place at Brooke Hills Park, the fair will be open for visitors from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $5 for Friday, and $10 Saturday and Sunday, with free parking and carnival rides available with the cost of admission.

In addition to the daily schedule, various displays and demonstrations are set to take place throughout the weekend, including free 4H projects, Patrick Graham, blacksmith from Graham Acres Forge, Kris McLaughlin, blacksmith from 4 Star Forge, a Plant, Harvest and Feed tent, PPG Adventure Air Glider Show, Women of History, arcade games, the Mountaineer Safari petting zoo on Saturday and Sunday, Michael Arthurs, stilt walker and fire entertainers, pony rides Saturday and Sunday by Double D Stables, and Traveling Shaman Milosh.

Friday's activities will include a welcome from Brooke Hills Park Director Janice McFadden at 5:30 p.m., which will include an opening ceremony flag raising by Cub Scout Pack 1553 and a live butterfly release by Butterflies by Heather.

There also will be the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull, a 4H STEM Challenge, Black Diamond Wrestling, and Bingo.

Saturday's schedule will include the Queen of Queens competition, Little Roaming Railroad Train Rides, the Kids Farmers Market, a tug-of-war competition among the county Intermediate schools, Battlefield Archery, middle school mud volleyball, a tug-of-war between the primary schools, a demolition derby, live music, the Domino's Pizza eating contest, and more.

Sunday's schedule features a livestock show, the rooster calling contest, KOI dirt racing, Twins Triplets and More Day, the 4H Pet Show, a corn hole tournament, live entertainment, Barnyard Bingo 50/50, a corn shucking contest, and Khymira Entertainment Kids Club.

The World of Wonders: Big Top Sideshows will have performances each day, with the Museum of Marvels available between shows.
