Brooke High School Principal Eric James has been charged with two felony counts and is being held at Northern Regional Jail on $100,000 bond, according to information from the West Virginia Magistrate Database and the West Virginia Regional Jail Authority.
James has been charged with one count of intentionally intercepting or attempting to intercept wire, oral or electronic communication and one count of breaking and entering a non-residence.
James appeared before Brooke County Magistrate Michelle Heaton on Thursday.
According to officials, the arrest followed the discovery of four cameras in girls’ locker room areas of the school, Wednesday afternoon.

WELLSBURG - Brooke County Schools has suspended the principal of the county’s high school as part of an investigation into the alleged placement of a recording device in one of the locker rooms at Brooke High School.
According to a statement released by the school district Thursday morning, officials were informed Wednesday afternoon of a criminal investigation involving the alleged recording devices.
School security officers, central office staff and local law enforcement located and removed the devices, with Superintendent Jeffrey Crook removing the principal from the school and suspending him from employment pending additional information.
School officials are meeting with students, parents, and staff today to offer supportive measures while the investigation continues.
