New charges filed against Brooke principal
Magistrate hearing continued until Sept. 21

WELLSBURG - The preliminary magistrate hearing against Brooke High principal, Eric James, accused of hiding cameras in three girls’ locker rooms at the school, was continued until next week, while two additional charges have been filed in the case.
James, who was arrested Sept. 3 on two initial felony charges for allegedly placing the cameras, appeared before visiting Magistrate Matt Harvey in Brooke County Magistrate Court Monday morning. Harvey was assigned to the case after both of Brooke County’s magistrates recused themselves from the initial case.
According to Brooke County Prosecutor Allison Cowden, two new felony wiretapping charges have been filed, as a result of evidence gathered from the ongoing investigation, bringing current charges to three counts of intentionally intercepting or attempting to intercept wire, oral or electronic communication, and one count of breaking and entering a non-residence, according to magistrate records.
He now also has a total $200,000 cash bond.
In light of the new charges, defense attorney DeMarr W. Moulton filed to waive time and requested a continuance, Monday, with a new hearing set for 11 a.m., Sept. 21.
