River Fest set to welcome the fall to Hancock County

NEW CUMBERLAND - The autumn season is starting, and in Hancock County that means it's time for New Cumberland's annual Fall River Fest.
The festival will be held Saturday and Sunday in the city's downtown, with vendors, crafters, and more set to line River Avenue, along with live entertainment, a car show, fireworks and more throughout the weekend.
It is all set to kick off at 9 a.m., Saturday, with the River Fest 5K beginning at the George Hines Park Gazebo.
The family-friendly race has a cost of $25 per person, with proceeds set to benefit the physical education department at Oak Glen High School. The course begins at North Chestnut Street, across from Hines Park, heads south on Route 2 past the New Cumberland Baseball Fields and returns to the start line.
Registration forms are available at the New Cumberland City Building, Oak Glen High School, and Davis Brothers Pharmacy, with final registration turned in no later than 8 a.m. the day of the race.
The Oak Glen High School Band will play in the official start to the festival at 11 a.m., along with a color guard from Boy Scout Troop 38 and a welcome by Mayor Will White. Meanwhile, Amy McCormick will offer a yoga session at the Magic Tree Garden at 10:30 a.m. To participate in the yoga, individuals must call (330) 383-2144.
There will be a car show on South Chester Street from noon to 3 p.m., and a schedule for live entertainment is set to include Andrew Bissey at noon, Bill Crawford at 2 p.m., Led Foot Lover at 4 p.m., and the Wells Brothers at 4:45 p.m. Fireworks will cap off Saturday night.
Sunday's activities will feature the Community Church Service and Christian music at 11 a.m., followed by the Little Miss New Cumberland Pageant at 1 p.m., and a performance by Scott Douglas at 2 p.m.
An art show, featuring works of local residents of all ages, will be available for viewing both days, and bounce houses and other surprises also are planned.
