STEUBENVILLE -- Here’s your chance to shine and support the Friends group of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County.
Friends of PLSJ members have collected jewelry, purses, trinkets and more for the Books & Bling traveling drawing in November and December. Each week from now to the end of the year, 24 items will travel from library branch to library branch for visitors to view and purchase tickets for a chance to win.
The idea was sparked by Friends of PLSJ and staff member Kathy Gagin.
“I love vintage things and hope many of our library patrons do as well. This is a great way to support your library and indulge your treasure-hunting passion at the same time,” Gagin said.
Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six and can be purchased at the library. Winning tickets will be announced during a live drawing on the PLSJ Friends Facebook page, plsjfriends, on Jan. 5.
Stop by to see the display of vintage items and purchase a raffle ticket during regular operating hours on the following dates:
• Adena Branch: Through Friday.
• Bergholz Branch: Nov. 9-13.
• Brilliant Branch: Nov. 16-20.
• Dillonvale Branch: Nov. 23-27.
• Tiltonsville Branch: Nov. 30-Dec. 4.
• Toronto Branch: Dec. 7-11.
• Schiappa Branch: Dec. 14-18.
• Main Library: Dec. 21-28.
Money raised goes to the Friends group that supports the library.
“We are so excited about this new kind of fundraiser. It’s a fun way to bring attention to the Friends of PLSJ, and we hope that everyone will follow us on Facebook for updates and photos,” said Friends of PLSJ President Robyn Hill.
The Friends of PLSJ group provides funding for things like reading program prizes, museum passes, library animal upkeep and new items for the Library of Things. While the group is best known for the annual 25-cent used book sale at the Main Library on the first weekend of May, Hill hopes everyone will enjoy this new traveling fundraiser.
