Man faces murder count in road rage
DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Authorities have made an arrest in what they say was a deadly road rage incident that occurred during a nor'easter last month.
Gloucester County prosecutors say 54-year-old Everett Moore Jr., of Clayton, was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and two weapons offenses in the March 7 slaying of Joseph Pirri. Moore allegedly slashed the 32-year-old Blackwood man during a confrontation in Deptford Township, and Pirri died a week later from his injuries.
Prosecutors say Pirri provided police with details about his assailant and the pickup truck the man was driving. That information, along with video surveillance camera footage, led to Moore's arrest.
Authorities declined Wednesday to provide further details on the investigation or disclose a motive, citing the ongoing investigation.
Dog bites police horse in unit event
WILMERDING, Pa. -- Authorities say a dog in a yard near a police mounted unit event in Pennsylvania escaped and bit one of the participating horses on its legs.
Allegheny County police say its mounted unit and one from Pittsburgh were in Wilmerding on Wednesday to talk to a citizens group about the duties and responsibilities of the units.
Police say a dog that hadn't been properly secured escaped from a yard and bit a Pittsburgh police horse named Jack, leaving the animal with puncture wounds on his front legs and near his back legs.
The dog was quarantined while officials tried to determine whether it was up to date with all vaccinations. A vet examined the horse, which appeared to be experiencing no further problems.
DeLorean widow sues for payments
NEWARK, N.J. -- The widow of maverick automaker John DeLorean alleges a Texas company has illegally received money from the "Back to the Future" movies that used his iconic car.
The car was featured in the 1985 movie and a 1989 sequel. DeLorean died in 2005.
Sally DeLorean claims Universal agreed in 1989 to pay her husband for use of the car's image.
Her lawsuit filed in federal court in New Jersey Monday alleges the Texas company claims it is owed the money and has received "a substantial payment."
The Texas company is named DeLorean Motor Company but isn't affiliated with the one DeLorean started.
Sally DeLorean settled a lawsuit in 2015 allowing it to use the DeLorean name, but she says contractual rights to benefit from the use in the film weren't transferred.
Jeb Bush speaks of father's strength
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says his father, former President George H.W. Bush, is "stronger than an ox."
Jeb Bush is speaking Wednesday at Brown University in Rhode Island.
Bush mentioned the recent death of his mother, Barbara, and the hospitalization of his father in his opening remarks at the Ivy League school. He said the former president, who he called the greatest man alive, is out of intensive care and will be leaving Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas on Friday. He had contracted an infection that had spread to his blood.
Teens stabbed waiting for subway
PHILADELPHIA -- Two 17-year-old boys were stabbed waiting for a subway train after school in Philadelphia, and police say they're in critical condition.
It happened at a bustling downtown station just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, not long after public schools let out.
The boys were waiting on the eastbound platform at the 8th Street station on the Market-Frankford subway line.
Police say one teen was stabbed in the neck, stomach and left arm. The other boy was stabbed in the chest, stomach and was cut on the wrist. They were taken to different hospitals and are in critical condition.
