Rocco Auteri

AUTERI, Rocco, passed away to be with his beloved wife, Elizabeth and his creator on Jan. 12, 2015, at Acuity Hospital in Steubenville, OH.

Rocco was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth, his parents, Nancy Audrizzi and Mercurio Auteri, brothers, Joe and Orlando Auteri and sister, Mary Mitchell

Rocco is survived by his granddaughter, Danielle Korsgaard, great-grandson, Justice Korsgaard and brother Guy “Peachy” Auteri. As well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Rocco graduated from Catholic Central High school in 1950 and dutifully served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951-55 where he was stationed in the Quadrillions Islands as well as Treasure Island in San Francisco, California

After serving his country, Rocco pursued a career in meat cutting working retiring from the Kroger Inc. after 30 years of service.

After retirement, Rocco and Rusty took joy in their biannual trips to visit their granddaughter and family in California. During these trips, “Gran and Pop” as they were referred to, cooked, cleaned and spoiled their granddaughter as if she was a princess.

Uncle Rock and Aunt Lovers tiny home served as the social hub in town where a friend or relative was always greeted with a glass of wine, cup of coffee and a pepperoni & cheese plate.

Rocco was a member of the Holy Family Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 472 and was a member of the Father Bigelow Assembly, 4th degree

Rocco was a man who was always true to his word, firm and got the job done. Despite his forthright honesty, he would lay his life down for his friends and family. He will be desperately missed but remembered as a man of unshakable faith and commitment.

Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini, celebrant. Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Sorrowful Mysteries Mausoleum. There will be a vigil service at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
