Eli Vein

Eli Edward Vein, Sr., 85, of Richmond, wonderful father and grandfather died Friday, February 13, 2015, at Valley Hospice North.

He was born in Steubenville, on March 30, 1929. He is the son of the late Dobre “Peter” Vein and Milija “Mabel” Tepovac Vein. In addition to his parents, Eli is preceded in death by his sisters Josephine Hare and Anne Wukelic; brothers, Sam Vein and George Vein, Sr.

Eli retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 740.

Eli is survived by his sons: Eli Vein, Jr. of Livermore, CA, Rodney Vein of Richmond, Gary (Linda) Reeder of Columbus; daughters, Jane (Brian) Vein Gambos of Richmond, Sharon Stenger of Philadelphia, PA, Paula (Randy) Mullen of Carrollton.

Grandchildren: Wade, Mason and Aaron Gambos, Sierra and Andrea Vein, Samuel and Shalaine Stenger, Rebecca (Mullen) Strickmaker, Laura and Melody Mullen, Randall (Tracy) Mullen, Rex and Michael Reeder, Amy Sanborn, Kyla Kozlikowski, and Lisa Wade.

Brothers: Mitch (Ruth) Vein of Wisconsin, Joseph Vein of Steubenville, and Peter Vein of Richmond, sisters: Martha Vein of Wintersville, and Dorothy Jewett of Steubenville, and a number of great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces.

Calling hours are Monday at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Rev. Delbert Lash will officiate. Burial will be at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates. The Ohio Valley Memorial Squad will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
