Richard E. "Rick" Richards, 62, of Urbana passed away at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at VA Illiana Health Care, Danville.
Rick was born November 12, 1955, in Weirton, WV, the son of Ronald E. and Elizabeth Swearingen Richards Sr.
He married Deanna Sue Widick-Richards on August 6, 2011, in Champaign. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Michael Kuhlmann of Tolono, Nichole Richards Simms of Mt. Claire, WV, and Alice "Bryan" Richards; six grandchildren; his loving mother, Elizabeth Ann Richards; two brothers, Ronald Richards Jr. of Florida and Ralph Richards Sr. of West Virginia; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Randall Richards and Rodney Richards.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After the military, he worked in civil service, retiring in 1996. He also worked at Miejer in Urbana.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling, music, watching TV and his three loving cats.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Kings Creek Union Chapel, 2883 Kings Creek Road, Weirton, WV.
Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, IL is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kings Creek Chapel or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
