JANICE KAY DeLONG SMITH, 84 of Pittsburgh, PA formerly of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 21, 2023, following a brief battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, with her loving son, Bobby by her side. Janice was a beautiful person, both inside and out, to everyone who knew her.

She was born February 25, 1939, in Washington, PA. The daughter of the late Darwon and Iva Martin DeLong. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lennie E. Smith; and brothers, Arthur “Bud” DeLong, Charles “Charlie” DeLong.

Janice was an active member of the Colliers Way Church of Christ. The couple met in 1960, and married the year after. Once she had children, she worked part-time at Denmark’s, Marlinn’s, Kaufmann’s, and Macy’s throughout the years.

Her life was centered around her family, and she was with them at every event and milestone, from homeroom parties of her children and grandchildren to the preschool graduation of her great grandson Edison. Holiday dinners will never be the same without her and her homemade noodles and mashed potatoes. She was a wonderful baker, with Christmas cookies and pepperoni rolls being a couple of her specialties, and they were favorites of anyone who had the privilege of enjoying them. She baked her family’s favorite cookies for Christmas and their favorite Desserts on their birthdays.
