ALMA FRAGIADAKIS
Alma Elizabeth Fragiadakis passed away on Saturday, July 8th at the age of 94. Alma left us to join her husband of 68 years, George Fragiadakis, who passed away on June 11th.
She is survived by and dearly missed by her sons Kenny, Joe and Steve.
Alma loved being a mother of boys, but also cherished her “girl-time” with nieces Denise DeFalco Tripiano, Nancy Hritz, Yvonne DeFalco, and Annette DeFalco Onstott, who also mourn her passing. She is also survived by her nephew, Don Falasca, and many great nieces and nephews.
Alma was born in 1929 in Steubenville, Ohio to Rosa and Guiseppe Falasca. The Falascas were a large Italian family – Alma was the “baby” of eight total children. She spoke often of her childhood, a simple home, with just enough to go around, that was filled with happiness and fun times.
Alma fell in love with George, a handsome returning Navy serviceman, at a local dance hall. They married in 1955. Not long after, George decided they should move to California.
By her own recounting, Alma initially refused to move away from her entire family in Steubenville, and stubbornly stuck to guns for some time. Eventually, her mother forced to her to go with George — a woman who was as stubborn and opinionated, as Alma was.
Although in declining health herself when George passed away, her friends and family take solace in the fact she is now reunited with George.
That they are together now, doing puzzles, throwing parties and loving their sons from above.
