ARTHUR PANEPUCCI
Celebrating the life of Arthur A. Panepucci. Arthur passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at his home under the care of Valley Hospice and his loving Family. He was born on October 6, 1920, in Paganica, Italy a son of the late Ada (Ciamti) and Dominick Panepucci. He graduated from Dillonvale High School in 1938 and also was a graduate of Thompsons School of Business. He entered the United States Army in 1943. After suffering a near fatal bullet wound in Chartres, France he spent 294 days in a hospital recovering. He served in the Normandy Campaign as a gunner in the 82nd Armored Recon Division. Art greatly loved the United States, and he wore his service to his country with great pride.
Returning home to Dillonvale, Art purchased his father’s business opening a Service Station which he operated for 39 years before retiring. During these years Art was very active in the Dillonvale American Legion, taking many offices including serving as commander. He was responsible for acquiring money to pay off the Legion building mortgage when there was a threat of closure. He also took over the Military Funerals and wrote a new agenda for the services which is in use today.
He was on the Board of the Short Creek Water Services and spent many hours traveling to individual properties convincing owners to sign for the improvement for safety from flood waters. Art was also responsible for obtaining government money to improve and clean the creek for the safety of homeowners.
Judge Sam Kerr appointed Art to the Board of Friendship Park in Smithfield as a fund raiser and community activist. Through many trials he was able to secure a grant to begin the first campground for the park which now houses many vacation and year-round RV’s and more. Art was responsible for having electricity installed in the new campground and later water was added.
Art passion was helping everyone who entered his business. An avid vitamin taker, he started many people on a healthy homeopathic lifestyle. As the old saying goes, Art lived what he preached. Art was a loving husband, wonderful father, and best friend to everyone he met. He was a good man and greatly loved and respected in his community.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude (Olzewski); Four brothers, Dante (Esther), John (Agnus), Anthony (Dorothy) and Mario (Mae); and a sister, Katerina “Rena” (Bill) Milhone.
Surviving are his wife, Louise (Snider) Panepucci; son, Arthur “Bo” Jr. (Mary Beth); daughters, Margaret “Peggy” (James) Beazel and Dr. Robin Snider-Flohr; grandchildren, Mary Panepucci, James Beazel (Bird) and Christopher Flohr; great grandchildren, Christian and Michael Beazel, and Emily and Samantha Slack.
The Family would like to thank, Melissa Pearson as his faithful and loving caregiver; Hospice nurse, Lenee Davis who gave Arts last days meaning; neighbors, Judy and Ed Lyons and Dennis Rambsel who provided too many services to lost but all are greatly appreciated; and nephew, Dominick Panepucci for his phone calls and haircuts.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 2nd St., Dillonvale. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home With Msgr. John Kolesar officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
