IVA BARTH
Iva Marie Barth, 71, of Weirton, WV passed away on July 11, 2023 at the Weirton Medical Center.
Iva was born on January 12, 1952, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Charles and Mary Frances Leach Seabright.
Iva’s life was marked by both profound loss and tremendous love. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Seabright, who made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for our country in Turkey. Additionally, her sister, Frances Seabright, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Las Vegas Nevada.
In the summer of 1968, Iva crossed paths with her future husband, Raymond, at “Sing Out Weirton,” an event held at the Lion’s Club. Their connection blossomed, and in April of 1973, Iva married Raymond Barth while he was serving in the United States Marine Corps. Together, they were blessed with two children, Raymond Charles “Charlie” Barth and Frances Marie Shaw. Iva’s greatest joy was found in her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her four adoring grandchildren: Jonathan Harmon, Margaret Shaw, David Barth, and Reagan Barth.
Iva’s professional journey led her to work at Stone and Thomas in Weirton before becoming a receptionist and secretary for Attorney Jeffrey Rokisky. Unfortunately, a tragic traffic accident resulted in surgery that caused a blood clot, leaving Iva disabled for the past 23 years. Despite these challenges, she faced each day with resilience and strength.
Throughout her life, Iva found solace and joy in various hobbies and pursuits. She had a passion for sewing and quilting, skillfully crafting beautiful pieces. Additionally, she dedicated her time to volunteering with the Tri State Young Marines, making a positive impact on the lives of young people. Family trips to Cape Hatteras held a special place in her heart, where she delighted in savoring delicious seafood and collecting trinkets as mementos of cherished moments.
She will be remembered with love by her husband, Raymond, her son Charlie and his wife Jessica, her daughter Frances and her husband David, as well as her beloved grandchildren, and her brother and sister in law Bill and Kathy Barth.
Visitation for Iva will be held from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral services will take place at 11 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
Rev. Lori Jones will preside.
