PATRICIA COTHERMAN

Patricia Ann Wilson Cotherman, 84, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, with her loving daughters by her side.

Patricia was born on August 28, 1939, in Metz, West Virginia, to the late Edgar Lee and Bessie Elizabeth Gump Moore.

She was a woman of remarkable strength and resilience, having endured the loss of two loving husbands during her lifetime. Her first husband, B. Eugene Wilson, passed away in December of 1983, and her second husband, Charles Edmond Cotherman, in July of 2009.

Throughout her life, Patricia was a pillar of her community working at Weirton Medical Center and a devout member of Christ United Methodist Church in Weirton. She served as a board member of the Community Breadbasket, dedicating her time and energy to helping those in need. Patricia was also an unwavering supporter of Weir High School, and her passion for the school was especially evident when it came to cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

You could always spot her in a sea of red and black, her radiant smile lighting up the crowd. To know Patricia was to understand the profound love she had for her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and her presence was a source of unwavering support and love for each of them. She was not only the matriarch of her family but also their rock, their confidante, and their greatest cheerleader.

Patricia Ann Wilson Cotherman leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to family and community. She will be dearly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a reminder of the enduring power of love and the impact one person can have on the lives of many.

She will be remembered with love by her daughters, Debbie (Roger) Sparks and Dee (Art) Chappell; step children, Lynette (David) Midcap, Lori Porco, Charlie (Candace) Cotherman and Carrie Cotherman; grandchildren, Scott (Kate) Cook, Kristen Cook, Ali Chappell and Artie (Amber) Chappell, Brian (Marlise) Sipes, Justin Porco, Zachary (Emiley) Midcap, Megan Midcap and Isabella White; great grandchildren, Mickayla, Trae, Logan, Liam, Cam, Gracie and Lane; a lifetime friend, Maryann Ralston and nieces, nephew and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 PM until 7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11 AM.

Rev. Larry Barkley will preside. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.

Patricia’s family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Amar Khurana and Jennifer Cunningham, NP; and Dr. Brian Thomas, Weirton Medical Center Cancer Center, and to Valley Hospice for all their love, compassion and care during this difficult time. We would also like to thank her cousins and family for all the love and support they have given us.

Her family kindly requests donations be made to the Community Breadbasket, Christ United Methodist Church or Weir High School Athletics in her memory, continuing her legacy of compassion and service to others.
