JOANN MOORE
JoAnn Lee Moore, age 88, of 35960 Old Piedmont Road, Flushing, died peacefully at 12:02 a.m. Sunday, November 12, 2023 in The Meadows Care Center, Cadiz after a period of declining health.
Joann was born February 15, 1935 in Ohio Valley Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia; a daughter of the late Leslie Robert Latimer and Ruth Elizabeth Cornelia Sheline.
JoAnn was a 1953 graduate of Freeport High School. She was a 4-H advisor for the Nottingham Cloverdales for close to twenty years, Harrison County Extension Homemaker’s Club, and served on the Harrison County election board. She loved the outdoors and loved to garden and grow flowers. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She also helped her husband and son on their sheep farm.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Stanley Allen Moore. They were married October 2, 1954 in Nottingham Presbyterian Church by Reverend Lodwick.
Also surviving are a daughter: Vicki (Dave) Rothacher of Dover and a son, Rick (Marcie) Moore of Moorefield; five grandchildren: Nick (Abby) McMillen of Dover, Erica (Adam) Miller of Massillon; Shelly (Dave) Howes of Quaker City, Sheri (Brian) Miller of Moorefield, and Steven (Angela) Moore of Flushing;; eight great grandchildren: Morgan McMillan, Easton Miller, Clay (Kylie) Howes, Nate Howes, Tyler Miller, Brianna Moore, Rylee Miller, and Logan Moore; two step-great-grandsons: Blake (Maddie) Willis and Hudson Willis; a sister: Darlene (Donald) Holtz of Westerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1955 and a sister, Barb McCartney.
Visitation will be held 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home Wednesday, November 15, 2023 with her son, Rick officiating the service. Burial will follow in Moorefield Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Meadow and Community Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Joann. Their kindness and support was really appreciated.
