MARGIE NEFF

Margie Milligan Neff, a longtime Washington Township resident, peacefully passed away on December 29, 2023, at 87, surrounded by family at Oakmont at Gordon Park in Bristol, VA, with the love of her life, Robert D Neff. Born on February 22, 1936, in Toronto, Ohio, Margie was an esteemed educator, leaving her mark in various school systems in Ohio and Germany. Margie was a devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church for more than six decades.

Active in numerous organizations, Margie served as president of the Dayton Woman’s Club and contributed to the Sigma Kappa Sorority, PEO, Daughters of the American Revolution, and more. A connoisseur of the arts, Margie adored her Hummel collection, buying her first Hummel at age 16 in Toronto at Ernie Troski Jewelers. Her creative spirit extended to handwritten notes, poems, and playing the piano by ear. Margie is preceded in death by her parents William E and Gaynelle Ingram Milligan and her youngest sister Rebecca Milligan Evanosky. She is survived by her husband, daughters Linda Neff (Charles A Hardinger) and Amy Shuttle (Sam Shuttle), granddaughters Meredith Kovar and Helen Hardinger, sister Wanda Elwell, and cherished family and friends. Visitation is January 12 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio. A celebration of Margie’s life is January 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Kettering, Ohio. Contributions to the Dayton Woman’s Club are welcomed.
